Screening and Discussion: Money and Life
Transition Berkeley invites you to join us for a highly acclaimed new film with an alternative view of wealth. This inspirational essay-style documentary asks a provocative question: Can we see the economic crisis not as a disaster, but as a tremendous opportunity? This cinematic odyssey connects the dots on our current economic pains and offers a new story of money based on an emerging paradigm of planetary well-being that understands all of life as profoundly interconnected. Following the screening Marco Vangelisti of Essential Knowledge for Transition will take a closer look at the design of the money and banking system and answer the following questions:
What does the design of our money system have to do with our economic slump? Why is there so much debt? Why isn’t there enough money in the economy even though we have so many unemployed people and so much to do? Is there an alternative to austerity?
A community discussion and Q & A will conclude the evening. Light and local refreshments will be served.
Co-sponsored by Transition Berkeley, Essential Knowledge for Transition, Slow Money Northern California and BFUU Social Justice Committee.
