CoHousing Teach-In at the Legal Cafe HUB Berkeley

Discussion on Co-Owning Housing: 7 to 8 PM RSVP at http://www.eventbrite.com/event/8459176625

Are you interested in sharing ownership of housing? Do you see yourself living in housing that you co-own with others? Shared housing attorney and Executive Director of the Sustainable Economies Law Center, Janelle Orsi, will lead a discussion about some of the key legal questions that groups often have when embarking on creating shared housing structures, including the basics of co-housing, co-op housing, limited equity housing cooperatives (LEHCs) and tenancy in common agreements. Come with your questions and ideas to share! RSVP online.

Regualr Legal Cafe: 6 to 8:30 PM Those who want to create alternative economic structures have difficulty finding affordable and competent legal assistance because there are so few attorneys specialized in the legal needs of the sharing economy. Communities with high rates of unemployment and poverty will find the hurdles to launching new enterprises especially insurmountable. The Resilient Communities Legal Cafe will give direct legal assistance to the residents of the East Bay, and at the same time create the reproducible model and resources to support similar programs around the country. No appointments necessary! The Resilient Communities Legal Cafe is a first-come, first-serve Legal Advice session. You might be asked to wait, but have no fear! There are always snacks, drinks, collaboration with others, and the Resilient Communities Legal Library available. Feel free to come anytime during the Cafe hours to receive your legal advice. Pay-it-Forward? At SELC, we know that small businesses, non-profits, and community enterprises building more resilient local economies are strapped for cash. That’s why we believe in creating different economic relationships that build community and trust without money! Help strengthen the New Economy by ”paying” for the next Client’s legal advice, paying-it-forward in your community, or giving back to SELC!
