Orchards and Organics Farm Tour – Central Valley
Join the CUESA community on an all-day adventure to see the fall bounty of the Central Valley.
Our first stop will be Lagier Ranches in Escalon, a diversified organic operation farmed by fourth-generation farmer John Lagier and Casey Havre. We’ll see their Bronx grape vines, recently planted organic almond orchard, and brand new native pollinator hedgerow. They’ll also give us a peek into their commercial kitchen where they process their delicious fruit spreads.
After a tasty farmers market lunch designed and cooked by CUESA’s market chef, we’ll head north to Lucero Organic Farms in Clarksburg, run by Ben and Karen Lucero and Ben’s son Curtis. We’ll be the first visitors to see their newest field, located on the Prospect Slough of the Sacramento River. We’ll learn about Ben’s long history as an organic farmer and see how he and his family continue to grow winter squash, tomatoes, and other crops sustainably.
Tickets are available on a sliding scale from $25-45*, which includes lunch made with care from farmers market ingredients as well as round-trip transportation from the Ferry Building in a comfortable, air-conditioned bus.
