Oil By Rail Week of Action

This event has passed.

At 1:14 am on July 6th, 2013, sleepy Lac-Mégantic, Quebec awoke to a nightmare — a train carrying deadly, highly-flammable oil had derailed and exploded in the center of town. Today, the grieving residents are still fighting to stop Big Oil from resuming shipments through their still-recovering community.

From Alabama to North Dakota, unsafe rail cars loaded with extremely volatile oil are secretly barreling through innocent towns — derailing, spilling, and exploding along the way. Lac-Mégantic is just the beginning, hundreds of towns across the US and Canada are in danger. Enough is enough!

Join us for a Week of Action event between July 6th-13th, or host your own! We’ll stand together in solidarity with Lac-Mégantic and send a powerful message to Big Oil and our decision makers: Protect our communities and keep extreme oil off the rails!

With 29 events planned across the country, and more added each day, it’s easy to find an event near you. Don’t see an event in your area? No problem — you can even host your own!
