Make It Fresh! Creative Storytelling Showcase and Celebration

This event has passed.

Hosted by Josh Healey and Chinaka Hodge, Music from DJLN

Josh leads participants at a Make It Fresh! session. If politics is the art of what’s possible, then let’s use art to expand those possibilities. This fall Movement Generation created a space for 20 emerging writers, activists, and movement-builders to write, learn, and share their stories. Stories of our neighborhoods, our struggles, our place in this crazy, beautiful environment we call home. Join us for this performance showcase, where Make it Fresh storytellers will share their new poems, songs, and stories with the community for the first time.

The Make It Fresh! Fall 2013 Cohort — Make it Fresh participants are coming from groups like: Phat Beets Produce, Asian Pacific Environmental Network (APEN), Urban Tilth, Mujeres Unidas y Activas, Youth Uprising, Unite Here 2850, Critical Resistance, Brown Boi Project, Catalyst Project, City Slicker Farms,, Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC), Chinese Progressive Association, and many more.

We use our stories to change the larger narrative towards justice and ecology. We talk about pollution AND poverty. Mother Earth AND Mac Dre. We have asthma in our lungs, joy in our hearts, and we’re ready to shout our stories to the world.

Limited seating, so get there early!
