Light and Health: An Update

This event has passed.

Jointly presented by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) – San Francisco and the PG&E Pacific Energy Center.

There is an increasing amount of evidence that light in our spaces impacts not only how well we see, but our whole biological system in ways we are just beginning to understand. Our speaker, Mariana Figueiro PhD, has researched a variety of non-visual effects of light on circadian rhythms, on sleep, on alertness, as well as how these affect older adults. She will provide an update on the state of research on light and human health, and summarize the results that will have an impact on the way we choose to light in the future. Mariana is Director of the Light and Health Program at the Lighting Research Center, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY. The seminar is an IES Intermediate class and is eligible for 2.5 AIA LUs/IES credits.

This lecture is one of a series on Lighting and Human Factors that the Pacific Energy Center (PEC) and the Illuminating Engineering Society SF section (IES SF) are developing collaboratively.
