Help Preserve the Hillside Natural Area

This event has passed.

El Cerrito’s 100-acre Hillside Natural Area is an amazing urban oasis, with grassy ridges dotted by wildflowers separated by small creeks in oak-shaded canyons. Join our multi-year effort to preserve this treasure by removing invasive, fire-prone French broom. We have made huge progress — native grasses and wildflowers are re-sprouting, and walks are edged by wood fern and honeysuckle, not broom thickets. But years of work remain!

Wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toed shoes with good traction. Gloves, tools, snacks, and water provided.
