Growing your Soil with a Food Forest

This event has passed.

Come learn about the amazing transformation that has happened to the soil at Paradise Lot — Jonathan and Eric Tonesmeier’s 10-year-old edible forest garden. They’ve grown fantastic food, like persimmons, kiwis and pawpaws, and now they’re growing amazing soil too! In this workshop we’ll discuss garden design, evaluate the soil test results, and share plans for growing more black gold. Come listen and learn from Jonathan’s soil wisdom in a special power point presentation. Then get hands on while we put our knowledge into practice through beginning the soil building process with soil analysis, sheet mulching, and some planting of a future food forest at sister nursery Food Forest Farm West.

Instructor: Jonathan Bates, contributing author of the book “Paradise Lot: Two Plant Geeks one-tenth of an Acre and the making of an edible garden oasis in the city”, is coming out to the West Coast for this special one-time class. Workshop presented by BioFuel Oasis.
