Golden Gate Audubon Society Field Trip: Martin Luther King, Jr. Regional Shoreline
Shorebirds, divers, dabbling ducks, and more. Many birds that winter in the Bay Area will have arrived; other migrants will be stopping to feed and rest. High tide will be about 11 am, so we’ll have a chance to see shorebirds on the mud flats. We have a good chance of hearing clapper rails; there’s always a possibility that we’ll see one.
This trip is especially accessible for beginning birders and birders new to the Bay Area.
Meet at the Garretson Point Staging Area at the north end of Edgewater Drive off Hegenberger Road. We’ll walk along the shore as far as Arrowhead Marsh, a bit over a mile one-way, and then back.
