Give Comment: Planning for Sea Level Rise
You can comment through January 15 on the California Coastal Commission’s draft policies on how local agencies and planners should address rising seas.
Friends of Five Creeks’ recommendations include:
- Limiting attempts at coastal protection with structures like sea walls (which are likely to fail given stronger storms, higher waves, and rising seas)
- Use of natural shoreline processes such as “living shorelines” and “green infrastructure,”
- planning for long-term planned or managed retreat from the shore.
