Get Food Education in Every School: Join the National Initiative!
This event has passed.
Every October 24, thousands of Food Day events all around the country bring Americans together to celebrate and enjoy real food and to push for improved food policies. Food Day and the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation (USA) have launched an initiative, Get Food Education in Every School, to raise the awareness about food education nationally and start a conversation to integrate food education into the school curriculum and throughout the school day. The Edible Schoolyard Project, Center for Ecoliteracy, American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, Teachers College Columbia University, and dozens of other organizations support this initiative.
In our community’s next webinar, Food Day’s Lilia Smelkova will share why schools should provide food education within the academic curricula. She will discuss integrating food education within existing classes as well as providing students with hands-on experiences and education around edible education and cooking skills. Join Lilia on July 16th to find out about available resources and ways for your school to participate and connect with the national Get Food Education in Every School initiative.
