Environmental Justice Walk Against Cancer and Pollution

This event has passed.

Please join Greenaction, the Huntersview Mothers and Fathers Committee, residents, cancer survivors and grassroots groups from Bayview Hunters Point and other low-income and communities of color impacted by pollution as we come together for the People’s Earth Day Environmental Justice Walk Against Cancer and Pollution.

Everyone who cares about health, pollution, and environmental justice is welcome to join this event which will be held in the heart of Bayview Hunters Point, the San Francisco neighborhood that has borne much of the burden of polluting industrial operations and unsafe levels of toxic contamination.

The community can celebrate the big victory that closed the dirty PG&E Hunters Point power plant in 2006, but many pollution problems remain, including sites contaminated with cancer-causing chemicals and the threat posed by rising sea levels to neighborhoods due to the toxic sites on the waterfront.

Meet at 10:30 am in front of Martin Luther King Jr. Park, in the 5700 block of 3rd Street/Carroll in Bayview Hunters Point, San Francisco. The event starts at 11 am.
