Cruise: Leatherback Watch
The Sea Turtle Restoration Project is excited to partner with Blue Ocean Whale Watch for a special trip out of Moss Landing Harbor for the Leatherback Watch Program. We’ll be out on the water during the best viewing season for the rare Pacific leatherback sea turtles that rely on this area for jellyfish.
Each trip is led by an expert naturalist from our partners the Blue Ocean Whale Watch, who assists with locating whales, identifying seabirds and other marine life. STRP’s Dr. Chris Pincetich will be on board this special expedition to share updates and information about the critically endangered leatherback sea turtles.
Pacific leatherbacks are among the most imperiled of any sea turtle population in any ocean basin on Earth, and are offshore of California right now! This sea turtle and whale watching expedition will be a fundraiser for STRP’s Leatherback Watch Program, which monitors sightings of critically endangered Pacific leatherbacks for education and conservation purposes.
The cruise leaves at 10:00am from Moss Landing Harbor. Plan to arrive 15-20 minutes before departure. The cruise will last approximately three to four hours.
Make a reservation by phone. Be sure to mention Sea Turtle Restoration Project to the staff and we receive a part of the proceeds!
