Building the Movement Against Fracking

Friday | July 25, 2014 | 7:00 pm — 9:00 pm

First Congregational Church of Berkeley | 2345 Channing Way, Berkeley, CA 94702

350 Bay Area and Californians Against Fracking invite you to come hear scientist, author and activist, Dr. Sandra Steingraber, author of Raising Elijah and Living Downstream, on the known and hidden dangers of fracking and how to build a movement to stop this extreme extraction and protect our communities, health and the climate.

Sandra co-founded New Yorkers Against Fracking and has been a tireless advocate to prevent fracking in New York and recently helped deliver a letter from health professionals to Governor Cuomo and the state legislature detailing the overwhelming body of scientific data which supports the need for a Moratorium on fracking. This is what we want and need for California!

Come be inspired by Sandra’s scientific knowledge, and her stories of how communities are fighting this industry. We’ll also hear an update on the local stop fracking battles shaping up in four California counties this fall and to find out what you can do to help!

Special Benefit: This event is a special fundraiser for the brave folks in four counties in California who have collected signatures to put Fracking Ban measures on their county ballots in November. The oil industry has already shown they will be fighting these measures — Help Us show the Bay Area’s strong support for local communities standing up for local rights, clean air, water and energy and a safer climate for our children.

Please RSVP for your tickets online (tickets will be sold at the door but we need to know you’ll be attending).

Co-sponsors: 350 Bay Area, Californians Against Fracking, Center for Biological Diversity, Ecology Center, Food and Water Watch, and others.

Cost: Tickets are $20 and donations beyond the ticket price will help local communities fight Big Oil money.
