Bee 201 Hands-on: Build Your Own Hive

This event has passed.

Have you wanted to learn how to build the hive boxes to save money and have the satisfaction of doing it yourself? Each student will assemble a box, assemble wood frames, and install beeswax foundation in the frames. This class is all hands-on and for people who already have bees or are getting them this spring. A super box with frames is exactly what you need in March to add to your hive for swarm prevention. A deep box or hive body is what you need if you are starting a new beehive. No experience in carpentry needed. Note that we will not be cutting out the box or frame pieces; we will just be assembling pieces that are sold pre-cut.

Instructor: Joan Weir is an accomplished carpenter & beekeeper. She teaches both throughout California.

This class is part of the Biofuel Oasis Urban Farm Series.
