Bay Area Homemade Market: SELC Fundraiser
Come to the August 17th Bay Area Homemade Market to build community resilience while indulging in local artisan food by supporting the Sustainable Economies Law Center! We are organizing the August 17th Market in collaboration with the Sustainable Economies Law Center (SELC), and proceeds will go towards their continuing efforts to remove legal barriers to small-scale food enterprises in California.
SELC spearheaded the campaign for the California Homemade Food Act and lobbied for its passage, enabling homemade food enterprises like the ones featured at the Bay Area Homemade Market. SELC is currently working on ensuring smooth implementation of the new law and is contemplating further related legislation. Furthermore, SELC is working on a bill to legalize urban agriculture throughout California and is working on simplifying the process for backyard-grown produce to be used in cottage food operations and sold to restaurants. What does this mean for you? You can enjoy these nano-local food businesses and participate in community resilience.
At this month’s Bay Area Homemade Market, you’ll be able to show your support for SELC and their work. BAHM vendors are all contributing to a basket of artisan treats to be raffled off at the market in support of the organization that enabled their business. Come hungry, with your checkbook and ready to legalize local.
