San Francisco Department of the Environment (SF Environment)

SF Environment’s mission is to improve, enhance, and preserve the environment and to promote San Francisco’s long-term environmental well being. The group provides public education and outreach, conducts reviews, makes recommendations on proposed City legislation to include long-term environmental goals, works to increase visibility of local environmental issues, and coordinates the work of city environmental services for increased effectiveness.
Programs include: Energy issues; Environmental justice; Environmental policy; Green building; Less-toxic Pest Management; Less-toxic Purchasing; Ocean Beach; Precautionary Principle; Recycling; School Education; Toxic disposal & reduction; Transportation & clean air; Urban Forest.
Also, publishes a Directory of Bay Area Hazardous Waste Management and Recycling Firms.
