Report Shows Plastic Bag Recycling Not Keeping Up with Generation and Disposal

Californians Against Waste posted an article earlier this month that reports plastic bag recycling in 2009 and 2010 was less than 5% of the total amount of plastic bags generated. Even as recycling efforts have grown, overall production of plastic bags far outpaces those efforts. Worse still, plastic bags are a drain on the resources of cities and collection services, with disproportionately high costs to process a material that makes up small portion of the collected recyclables.
