Remediation Strategies for Urban Soils: An Evening with Steve Calanog, 9/26/13

20130921wheelbarrowThe fourth event in our “Soil in the City” workshop series brings an EPA expert with local remediation experience to the Ecology Center. Join us for an enriching evening talk with Steve Calanog, U.S. EPA Federal On-Scene Coordinator, soil expert, and gardener! Steve will address some of the biggest concerns for urban gardeners — the contamination of garden soil with lead, arsenic, and other hazardous materials. Hear about his trials and use of fish bonemeal to remediate lead. Find out what to be on the lookout for in your soil, bioremediation strategies, and methods for gardening more safely.
