Get Ready, Gear Up! Berkeley Bike Festival, 5/4/14

20140428bikefestivalCome celebrate all things Bike this Sunday, May 4th in preparation for Bike to School and Bike to Work Day. The day will begin with a family ride with Geared 4 Kids from 10:30am-12pm, followed by the festival.

The festival begins at 12pm with activities and events the whole family can enjoy: helmet decorating, free bike maps, free bike repairs from the BikeMobile, cargo-bike expo, a youth bike swap, bike way-finding, a bike rodeo, bike blended smoothies and much, much more! The Berkeley Climate Action Coalition will be there, doing an art activity to create pages of a “Why Bike” book. If enough pages are made, the book will be digitized and shared around the Berkeley School libraries!

Everyone is encouraged to donate your old outgrown bikes to the Youth Bike Swap, part of this event. Morning bike drop-off begins at 11am, swap open at 12pm. Bikes must be in good condition and have: wheels, seat and gears.

This event is co-sponsored by Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools and the Berkeley Unified School District. Click here for more event details.
