Albany Farmers’ Market Still in Limbo: Decision Slated for 3/27 Commission Meeting

Thanks to all of you who attended last Tuesday’s Albany Planning & Zoning Commission meeting to voice your support for the continuation of the Albany Farmer’s Market. And to those who sent letters and emails! We were so pleased and encouraged by the turn-out, which was overwhelmingly in support. The Commission voted 4-1 to delay a decision on the farmers market permit, pending possible changes to its layout, including the removal of trucks and a change to booth layout. To read Emilie Raguso’s report on the commission meeting, pop over to the Albany Patch. Berkeley Farmers’ Market Program Manager Ben Feldman will be reviewing the commissioner’s request and determining which adaptations are possible and which operational changes would prove too burdensome to the farmers. The commissioners will make their decision regarding the farmers’ market permit at the next Planning & Zoning Commission meeting, slated for March 27 at 7:30 p.m. If possible, please attend to show your support, or send a letter if you haven’t had the chance. Thanks so much!
