Ecology Center Web Advertising
When you advertise your business, organization, conference, or institution on the Ecology Center website, you receive targeted exposure to people who are interested in attending environmental classes and events, and people who are interested in learning more about environmental topics. Our readership tends to be individuals who buy consciously and actively search out sustainable businesses and products. Many are interested in social justice, food security, energy, and building community. Others are new to the movement and have found us due to an interest in health and other environmental concerns. Your advertising dollars help to support the Ecology Center's many free information services.
Web Ad Locations
When you purchase ad space, your ad will appear on several Ecology Center web pages at once, to provide maximum exposure. Your ad will appear on all the web pages that we group together in either Group A or Group B.
Group A includes: EcoCalendar homepage, Terrain article web pages, and other interior pages
Group B includes: Terrain homepage, EcoCalendar event web pages, and other interior pages
EcoCalendar is a comprehensive listing of Bay Area environmental classes and events. It is emailed twice a month to over 4000 Bay Area subscribers. Clicking on any listed event brings the reader back to the EcoCalendar event web pages. People also access the EcoCalendar by going directly to our website. Visitors to the Terrain web pages come from a variety of pathways. Google searches of particular topics often lead readers to Terrain articles, and our Ecology Center newsletters direct people to the Terrain web pages.
Traffic Patterns
Cumulatively, the EcoCalendar webpages receive 5,242 unique visitors (estimated) and 10,717 page views per month. Cumulatively, the Terrain webpages receive 1,141 unique visitors (estimated) and 2,384 page views per month. Our data is derived from 2010 Google Analytics reports.

Ad rates are subject to change at the beginning of every calendar year.
Payment and Deadlines
- We accept checks, Visa, and Mastercard.
- Payment for ad must be received within five working days of ad launch.
- Ad space must be reserved no less than seven working days prior to ad launch.
- Ad artwork must be submitted to us four working days prior to ad launch.
- Cancellation notice must be received three working days prior to ad launch.
- Once an ad campaign is running, we require 72 hours advance notice to perform any adjustments (banner creative, URL changes, etc.).
Web Ad Specifications
General Information:
- Ad must be accompanied by a URL link that is active when submitted.
- If ad background is white, it must have at least a dark one-pixel border.
- We are not responsible for errors in advertisements.

- 120px x 240px long button
- 120px x 90px button
Format Guidelines:
- We accept GIF, JPG, Flash, or Flash video files.
- File size limit is 25K for all ads.
- Animated .gifs must stop looping after three rotations.
- Flash files must be clickTAG enabled.
- Video ads may auto-play, but audio must be initiated by the user.

Advertisers must fit within the Ecology Center’s mission of promoting environmentally and socially sound practices. The Ecology Center’s acceptance of any advertisement should not be considered an endorsement of the product and/or service advertised or for the company that manufactures, distributes, or promotes such product or service. We decline any advertising that we believe is false, libelous, exploitative, or hateful. We reserve the right, at any time, to decline advertising copy.
